PROJECT 'REUSE'

REUSE Project

Regenerating our native bush

Eating ethically

Utilising overpopulated wild meat

Supporting food security

Encouraging community-led projects

This recently commenced project (supported by DIA) involves responsible hunting and culling of wild deer and goats in native bush areas around the Wairarapa. The culled feral animal carcasses are delivered to a butcher who packages and stores the meat. This meat will be used by WCCT and other agencies who wish to take part in this opportunity. This initiative will also provide opportunities for rangatahi to learn how to hunt responsibly and prepare their own kai.
